The rebate stack — three rebates, one invoice

Most installers only mention the federal STC. There are three rebates that legally stack in NSW — we claim all three and they come off your invoice on the day. No forms for you to chase.

$900–$1,300
Federal STC scheme

Small-scale Technology Certificates under the Renewable Energy Target. Auto-claimed by us at point of sale via the Clean Energy Regulator.

$700–$1,200
NSW ESS (Energy Savings Scheme)

Administered by IPART. Only available through an Accredited Certificate Provider — we sub-contract under one of NSW's largest ACPs so this rebate flows to your invoice automatically.

$100–$300
NSW PDRS

Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. Smaller add-on rebate for systems that heat overnight on off-peak. Stacks with ESS through the same paperwork.

Total stack: $1,700–$2,800 off the sticker price on a typical NSW heat pump install. Read the full breakdown in our NSW heat pump rebate guide or the heat pump vs gas comparison.

Why a specialist installer beats a general plumber

A general plumber

  • Mentions the federal STC rebate but skips NSW ESS + PDRS — you leave $700–$1,500 on the table
  • Installs whichever brand the rep was pushing that week — no brand depth on Sanden vs Reclaim trade-offs
  • Doesn't carry stock — 5–10 day wait between quote and install
  • No experience with split-system installs (compressor outside, tank inside the laundry) — you get a single-unit install whether it suits your house or not

Plumberthon as your specialist

  • Federal STC + NSW ESS + PDRS all claimed — full rebate stack flows to your invoice
  • Authorised dealer for Sanden, Reclaim and iStore — we'll tell you straight which suits your house, not which gives us the best margin
  • Common units in van — most Shire installs done same-day or next-day
  • Split-system specialist — happy to put the compressor on the side of the house and the tank in the garage if that's what your block needs

How the install day actually runs

Common questions

How much is a heat pump really, after rebates, in the Sutherland Shire?

For a standard single-storey Shire home swapping out an electric hot water tank for a 315L heat pump: $1,495 (iStore 270L) to $3,499 (Sanden 315L) installed. The Reclaim 315GL at $2,995 is the most-installed model in the Shire because it balances efficiency, warranty and price. Split-system installs or long copper runs add $300–$800.

Will the NSW ESS + PDRS rebates actually come off my invoice?

Yes, on the day. We assign the rights to those certificates to our ACP partner on the day of install — they pay us the rebate value, we discount your invoice by the same amount. You sign one form, no refund chase later.

Sanden, Reclaim or iStore — which one for my Shire house?

Short answer: Reclaim Energy 315GL is the right call for a Shire family of 4 with solar PV (highest efficiency, 7yr warranty). Sanden 315L if compressor noise matters (in-laws downstairs, close neighbour). iStore 270L if budget is the brief and you're a couple. We'll walk through it on the call.

How long does the install take?

3–5 hours for a standard swap. Single-storey homes in Caringbah, Cronulla, Miranda, Engadine, Sutherland — usually wrapped before lunch if we start at 8am.

What if my existing hot water is gas, not electric?

Gas-to-heat-pump conversions qualify for the same federal STC and most NSW ESS scenarios. We decommission the gas line at the meter, cap it, install the heat pump on the same outdoor wall. The rebate value can actually be higher because the energy saving from gas to heat pump is larger.

Do you cover all Sutherland Shire suburbs?

Yes. Caringbah, Cronulla, Miranda, Sutherland, Engadine, Menai, Bangor, Heathcote, Gymea, Kirrawee, Como, Oyster Bay, Sylvania, Sylvania Waters, Woolooware, Taren Point, Yowie Bay, Lilli Pilli, Burraneer, Loftus, Kareela, Grays Point, Bonnet Bay, Illawong, Alfords Point. Base is Caringbah so most Shire jobs are same-day or next-day.

What's the warranty?

Manufacturer warranty: Reclaim 7yr full system, Sanden 15yr tank / 6yr compressor, iStore 10yr tank / 5yr compressor. On top of that we offer 12-month workmanship cover on our install.
